Mt. Scott Creek Trail - City of Happy Valley
Dark

The City of Happy Valley, in conjunction with Happy Valley Parks and Recreation, is working on a project to improve the Mt. Scott Creek Trail, a popular recreational pathway located west of SE 129th Avenue with multiple trail access points. Just shy of nine acres, Mt. Scott Creek Trail offers an abundance of natural vegetation and forested ambiance, all within close proximity to Happy Valley neighborhoods.

The project will include new asphalt pathways, a boardwalk, and a bridge crossing over the creek. The project is anticipated to be fully completed April 2025.

Funding for this project is made possible in partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation Community Path Grant, which supports the development of multi-use paths across the state. The grant aims to enhance safety, accessibility and connectivity for those using this local trail.

What to expect

As the needs of the community grow and change, so does technology and materials for various park and trail amenities, signs, and even the accessibility options of natural areas. New asphalt pathways, a new boardwalk, and a new bridge crossing are just several features headed our way. Additional ADA upgrades will be implemented as well, allowing for better ease of travel for everyone interested in experiencing the trail’s flora and fauna, and the peaceful ambiance of this picturesque location.

Bringing the beauty of nature to one and all

In early 2024, the Parks Advisory Committee approved a select set of tree removals to accommodate the much-needed ADA upgrades. The designated trees have already been removed, creating the space needed for the ADA ramps and addressing those prioritized for removal due to their declining health. Together, the selected trees being removed ensure proper space is given to the project all while keeping the tree canopy in an excellent position to thrive for years to come. The area now boasts increased opportunities for casual strolls and trail runs, and offers a more inclusive experience for all residents and visitors looking to enjoy the area.
