Commitment to Community and Inclusivity
The City of Happy Valley is known for its diverse and vibrant community, where backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities come together to enrich the health, welfare, and economy of the area. As one of the most diverse cities in Oregon, Happy Valley recognizes the importance of fostering an inclusive environment that values equity and justice for all.
In 2021, the City Council approved the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategic Plan, reflecting the collective input from the DEI Task Force and the broader public. This plan emphasizes consistent and thoughtful actions that promote a welcoming and just community.
To further support this mission, the City provides a range of DEI resources, including curated book lists from the Happy Valley Library, which are regularly updated to inspire and educate residents. By actively engaging with the community and encouraging open dialogue, the City of Happy Valley strives to create a place where everyone feels valued and included.
