At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the City said farewell to four graduating Happy Valley Youth Council seniors and welcomed three new members to the group.  The Happy Valley Youth Council is comprised of high school students who live in the City and demonstrate the ability to take initiative. This council gives these teens a chance to express their opinions and lead projects that make a difference in the community. Since it started, Happy Valley’s Youth Council has created and supported many valuable programs such as Teen Driver Safety Events, Rx Drug Turn-ins, and Youth Town Halls on relevant topics that matter to teens. Most recently, the group has led several events focusing on the importance of youth mental health and wellness, a topic of concern for many local students. The Happy Valley Youth Council also initiated the annual Oregon Youth Summit, a meeting of local youth councils from around the state to exchange ideas and work together on important issues.

Please join us in thanking the following seniors for their dedication to our community while serving on the Youth Council:
-Owen Hunt
-Ava Stahl
-Will Sussman
-Riley Thames

At the same time, please join us in congratulating the following individuals for being selected by their peers to serve on the Youth Council for the next several years:
-Giancarlo Manzon
-Kanak Patel
-Lucas Wong
