Community Events 2024

In Happy Valley, we prescribe to the motto that a City that plays together stays together.

We are all about planning fun activities and events that give neighbors, parents, schoolmates, and business owners opportunities to have fun together.

Dumpster Day

Saturday, June 8, 8am – Noon (Happy Valley Park)

What better way to finish up your spring cleaning than to take your unwanted items to Happy Valley’s Dumpster Day event. The annual event occurs the second Saturday in June and Happy Valley residents can drop off items that still have life in them, or broken items that need to be disposed of.

Fourth of July Family Festival

This day-long festival begins in the morning with a morning hike hosted by the Happy Valley Hikers, followed by a community parade where everyone is invited to participate. Throughout the day at Happy Valley Park, visitors can enjoy live music, various inflatable structures, carnival games, a variety of food and business vendors, and a lively beer garden. The event concludes with one of the best firework displays in the area. Entry to the park and most activities are completely free for visitors to enjoy.

Summer Concerts

Thursdays, July – August

Concerts in the Valley Each summer, Happy Valley hosts a Thursday night concert series at Happy Valley Park. Evening concerts are “festival style” seating. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy this free, 6-week concert series.  Come and enjoy a fun night out with friends. The stage is located by the Gazebo, and conveniently close to the splash pad and play area.  Food & Beverage/Beer & Wine are available for purchase.

Concerts in the Park Every Friday in August, 6:30-8:30 pm. Want more summer concerts? The Happy Valley Library is hosting a concert series at Village Green Park (across from the library). Concert-goers can spend a relaxing Friday evening in the park, enjoying a variety of musical genres.

The Concerts in the Park series is sponsored by the Friends of the Happy Valley Library.

National Night Out

Tuesday, August 6th
Location: Happy Valley Park

National Night Out, held each year the first Tuesday in August, is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

In Happy Valley, National Night Out has typically boasted individual neighborhood block parties with local emergency responders and City officials making brief visits to groups as time permits. This year, in efforts to maximize connections and celebrate community togetherness, the City, in partnership with Happy Valley Police Department, Clackamas Fire District #1, and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office are joining forces to bring the fun to one central location, which will better ensure everyone gets a chance to be part of the excitement.

Our National Night Out celebration gets bigger and better every year. Let’s continue growing this event and keep crime out of our community!

Oktoberfest

Saturday, October 5th
Happy Valley Park

What better way to transition to the cool, cozy months of fall than a family-friendly event that brings families of the community together? There are plenty of activities for the little ones to enjoy including a petting zoo, wagon rides, pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, face painting, special performances, and much more. This year marks the 3rd annual Oktoberfest celebration, complete with beer garden, traditional German music and food, and even Weiner dog races. Break out the lederhosen and flannel and meet us at the park!

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Sunday, December 8th
Happy Valley City Hall Parking Lot

Kick-off the holiday season with one of Happy Valley’s most beloved traditions. Guests will enjoy a variety of festivities including musical entertainment, refreshments, and the lighting of the official Happy Valley tree. This is an outdoor event, so be sure to dress for the weather.
